*SEEKS SUPPORT FOR CONFERENCE 2024

The Central Planning Committee and several members of the Executive Council of the South West Hoteliers Association visited Ado Ekiti yesterday to commend Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for his efforts in positioning Ekiti State as a leading destination in Nigeria.
The delegation, led by Mr. Talabi Jamiu, Chairman of the Lagos State Hoteliers Association and also Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for Conference 2024, praised Gov. Oyebanji for his visionary policies and personal commitment to advancing tourism in Ekiti State. They highlighted how his leadership has brought Ekiti into global prominence as a tourism hub.
At the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, the team was received by Director General Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre and his staff, including Mr. Peculiar Ekiran, Special Assistant on Tourism Development; Mrs. Dolapo Adewumi, Tourism Officer; as well as Bernard Udensi and Ajibola Mariam, Corp Members.
The South West Hoteliers Association representatives included Mr. Oladimeji Olusola, Mr. Bankole Akibu, Mr. Kunle Adesanya, Dr. Dapo Olaleye, Baale Elusanmi Abiodun, Mr. Sodunke Olajide, and Mr. Ayodele Ogundele.
The visit aimed to inform the Bureau about the upcoming South West Hoteliers Conference 2024, scheduled for 20- 23rd October 2024 at the Ife Grand Resort. Ile Ife ,Osun State .
According to Mr Jamiu Talabi the powerful delegation was in Ekiti to specially invite Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the conference and also seek the support and assistance of Ekiti State Government for the event. Mr. Jamiu Talabi expressed appreciation for the Director General’s efforts in promoting tourism and hospitality not only in Ekiti State but across Nigeria. He noted that while previous conferences had been held in Lagos, Abeokuta and Badagry, the upcoming event will be hosted in Osun State.
In his address, the Director General expressed gratitude for the visit and described it as a highlight of his day. He emphasized that the hospitality sector is fundamental to tourism, stating that high service standards are crucial for creating memorable experiences for tourists. This, in turn, enhances interest in Ekiti’s eco-tourism, natural scenery, festivals, and cultural heritage, encouraging repeat visits and positive word-of-mouth.
The Director General stressed the importance of fostering partnerships to share best practices and drive growth and sustainability in the tourism sector. By collaborating, stakeholders can develop a unified strategy to leverage the state’s unique assets and attract more visitors. Ambassador Ojo- Lanre assured the members of the Association a prompt delivery of their requests and supplications to Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
In conclusion, focusing on elevating service standards and fostering collaboration within the hospitality sector presents a valuable opportunity to enhance visitor experiences and promote the state’s unique identity on both national and international platforms. Through these efforts, Ekiti State can continue to be a top tourist destination, driving economic growth and cultural pride for years to come.
