*Badiani, Bola-Sadipe, Alexandrou bags new positions

United Airlines announced a series of leadership changes across its team in Africa, effective on August 1, to enhance and expand its operations across the continent.

United Airlines, Head of Africa and Offline Sales, Amit Badiani

Amit Badiani has been named Head of Africa and Offline Sales. In this role, Badiani will oversee United’s entire African operations in South Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana, as well as Morocco from October.

Thorsten Lettnin, Director of Sales for Continental Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Israel, and India at United Airlines, praised Badiani for his 19 years of aviation experience. “Badiani’s leadership will further build on United’s close partnerships with key trade and airline partners as the airline expands to four countries across Africa.”

United Airlines Country Sales Manager for Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe

Oluwatomi Bola-Sadipe’s role as Country Sales Manager for Nigeria and Ghana has now been expanded to include South Africa. She will continue to manage the airline’s sales efforts across these key markets.

In South Africa, Penny Alexandrou has been appointed as United’s General Manager in Johannesburg. She will be responsible for the airline’s operations at OR Tambo International Airport.

Alexandrou brings over 24 years of industry experience to the role, and her appointment is expected to enhance service quality in Johannesburg.

These changes come as United this year marks the fifth anniversary of its Cape Town – Newark service and the third anniversary of its Johannesburg – Newark service.

United Airlines will serve Morocco from 25 October 2024, with the launch of its brand new three-times-weekly nonstop seasonal service between Marrakesh and New York/Newark.

United also operates routes from Cape Town, South Africa to New York/Newark and Washington D.C and connects Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana with Washington D.C.
