SAS Scandinavian Airlines has been appointed the Official Carrier for Routes Europe 2024, the leading route development event taking place in the Danish city of Aarhus from April 22-24.

Operating from hubs in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, the airline plans to serve more than 100 destinations in Europe during the summer 2024 season using its modern fleet of over 80 aircraft.

Maintaining the highest frequency of departures to and from Scandinavia, while connecting smaller regional airports with larger hubs, SAS is key airline partner for Routes Europe 2024 host destination Aarhus.

As the second largest city of Denmark and fifth largest metropolitan catchment in the Nordic region, Aarhus will welcome more than 1,200 decision makers from the route development community in April 2024. The event will unite airlines, airports and the destinations they serve to define future air connectivity across the region.

Sustainability is at the forefront of both the carrier’s and Aarhus’ agenda. SAS aims to reduce total CO₂ emissions by 25% by 2025 and for all domestic SAS flights to be fossil free by 2030, while the city of Aarhus has set the goal of being a carbon neutral society by 2030. Delegates attending the conference will hear directly from leaders of the airline, airport and destination about how sustainable aviation can be achieved in line with industry profitability.

Steven Small, director of Routes, said: “As a long-standing supporter of Routes events, we are delighted that SAS will be the Official Carrier for our upcoming Routes Europe event. By increasing the frequency of flights to Aarhus during the event, delegates will benefit from a seamless journey to Aarhus ahead of conversations that will shape the region’s air route networks for years to come.”

Erik Westman, chief revenue officer at SAS, said: “We are very honored to have been selected as the Official Carrier for Routes Europe 2024, affording us the opportunity to play a significant role in a very important industry event and fostering closer connections with Routes Europe and Aarhus Airport. We extend a warm welcome to all delegates on board SAS, as we embark on this shared journey of collaboration and innovation.”

“We are very excited to welcome SAS as the Official Carrier of Routes Europe here in Aarhus”, said David Surley, director of route development & marketing at Aarhus Airport. “As the Nordic region’s largest airline, providing strong connectivity through Scandinavia’s three largest hubs up to 16 times daily at Aarhus, we look forward to SAS playing a major part in welcoming event delegates to our awesome destination by way of fast and frequent service, warm hospitality, from all over Europe and beyond”.

Routes Europe will take place on 22-24 April 2024 in the Aarhus Congress Center.
