Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has announced a strategic collaboration with Allied Air Cargo Airlines to commence dedicated cargo operations at the Gateway International Airport, Iperu, Ogun State, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s air cargo and trade SAH/PR/CC/027ecosystem.

As the sole ground handling company at the Gateway International Airport since the airport commenced operations, SAHCO brings its proven operational excellence, modern ground support equipment, and extensive cargo handling expertise to ensure seamless and efficient cargo movement through the new gateway.

This collaboration signals a bold step toward strengthening Nigeria’s logistics value chain by creating a new cargo hub designed to drive trade, unlock agricultural exports, and decongest existing cargo corridors across the country.

Speaking on the development, SAHCO’s Chairman, Dr Taiwo Afolabi noted that the launch of cargo operations at Gateway International Airport aligns with the company’s commitment to expanding aviation infrastructure and supporting economic growth.

By providing reliable and world-class ground handling services to Allied Air, SAHCO is set to facilitate faster turnaround times, enhanced cargo security, and operational efficiency.

The initiative is expected to significantly boost agro-business by providing farmers, exporters, and manufacturers with improved access to international markets.

With Ogun State’s strategic location and strong industrial and agricultural base, the airport is positioned to become a vital export channel for perishable goods and manufactured products.

In addition, the commencement of cargo flights at Gateway International Airport will help reduce pressure on existing cargo routes, particularly those operating from other major airports, while creating alternative logistics pathways for exporters and importers.

Beyond trade facilitation, the partnership is projected to attract local and foreign investors by positioning Ogun State as an emerging logistics and cargo hub.

The development is also expected to generate employment opportunities and stimulate ancillary businesses within the aviation and supply chain sectors.

With this collaboration, SAHCO reinforces its leadership in Nigeria’s aviation ground handling industry and underscores its unwavering commitment to operational excellence, innovation, and national economic development.
