The Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite has said that the NCPC mandate is beyond pilgrimage, rather it is a platform to engender peace.
He made this disclosure on Thursday, 22nd February, 2024 while playing host to the leadership of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN who paid him a congratulatory visit in NCPC corporate headquarters, Abuja .
The NCPC boss affirmed that the work of peace has no finishing line as such, he enjoined every Nigerian particularly the youth to pursue peace at all cost so that Nigeria will be better for it.
He further explained that all Christians are one, thus there is need to foster unity, bridge the gap and cement relationship with one another.
Bishop Adegbite thanked them for identifying with him over his appointment, stating, “this is your office this appointment belongs to the body of Christ.”
He averred that he would take NCPC from the level it is today to a higher pedestal.
He further admonished the youth to cash in on the opportunity of the lent to reach out to the less priviledged ones in in the society, bearing in mind that the period of lent is for sober reflection, penetance and mercy.
He assured the YOWICAN members that the Commission would collaborate with them, especially in the area of youth pilgrimage.
According to him “We are going to work together, and Nigeria will be better for all of us “, he said.
He reiterated that “whatever we have we are holding it in trust”.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria, YOWICAN, Mr Belusochukwu Enwere described the NCPC boss as a role model and a mentor of many years standing.
He further described him as a man who loves humanity. He thanked him for what he has done for the body and what he would still do for them. He further affirmed that the NCPC boss has also been playing advisory role to the Association over the years which has helped in moulding them positively.
He stressed that his appointment as NCPC boss was a crown from God who has rewarded him with all his selfless service to God and humanity. In his words,”, you worked very hard to deserve this position'”
He assured the Executive Secretary that it is their duty to continue to pray for him to succeed.
The high point of the courtesy visit was the presentation of congratulatory card to the NCPC boss by the National Chairman of YOWICAN , Mr Belusochukwu Enwere.
The courtesy visit was graced by some of the board members of the Commission – Bishop Raphael Benjamin Nwankwo, the representative of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Dr. Simon Dolly Federal Commissioner representing North Central as well as Chief Prince Weli Wosu Federal Commisioner representing South-South geo- political Zone.
