The world’s leading transport policymakers, industry executives and experts meet in Leipzig, Germany, from 6 to 8 May for the Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum (ITF).

Ministers from the ITF’s 69 member countries, alongside senior representatives from international organisations, the private sector and civil society, are expected to participate.

Held under the Presidency of Azerbaijan, the Summit will address one of the most urgent challenges facing transport: how to make transport systems more resilient and how to pay for it.

The Summit will once again serve as the leading global platform for strategic dialogue on transport policy, bringing together decision makers at the highest level.

Supply chain disruptions, growing economic uncertainty and extreme weather events are testing the capacity of transport networks worldwide. Against a backdrop of increasing geopolitical uncertainty, climate risks and growing infrastructure demands, enhancing the resilience of transport systems has become a critical priority.

The 2026 Summit will explore how governments and stakeholders can mobilise sustainable, long-term financing to strengthen infrastructure, enhance system robustness and safeguard connectivity.

Discussions will focus on innovative funding mechanisms, public-private partnerships, risk-sharing models and the role of international co-operation in building resilient transport systems. Participants will also examine how investment strategies can align with broader goals including sustainability, digitalisation and inclusive economic growth.

As the only global intergovernmental organisation dedicated to transport policy, the ITF is uniquely positioned to convene this high-level dialogue. Its Annual Summit in Leipzig has established itself as a key moment in the international policy calendar, shaping the future of transport through evidence-based analysis and ministerial engagement.

The Summit will feature ministerial sessions, expert panels as well as an exhibition and demonstrations.
