The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has confirmed her acceptance to attend the Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA) 2026 as the Guest of Honour.

This was disclosed in a press release signed by the Convener of Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA), Olugbenga Sunday, who described the confirmation as a significant endorsement of the conference’s growing influence as Africa’s foremost platform for hospitality leadership, innovation, collaboration and industry development.

The Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA) 2026 is scheduled to hold from 11–12 July, 2026 at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, bringing together hotel owners, general managers, hospitality executives, tourism policymakers, investors, technology providers, educators and other key stakeholders from across Africa and beyond.

The two-day conference will feature insightful keynote presentations, panel discussions, executive masterclasses, networking sessions, product exhibitions, business-to-business engagements, hospitality technology showcases, leadership development sessions and recognition of excellence within Africa’s hospitality and tourism industry. The event is designed to foster strategic partnerships, promote innovation, strengthen hotel management capacity and drive sustainable growth across the continent’s hospitality ecosystem.

Speaking on the development, HMCA Convener, Olugbenga Sunday, said the participation of the Ghana Tourism Authority CEO reflects the increasing collaboration among African tourism institutions and reinforces HMCA’s commitment to advancing hospitality excellence across the continent.

As Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the affairs of the Authority and is answerable to the Governing Board for the performance of the functions of the office.

Her responsibilities include the granting of operational licenses to tourism enterprises, the development of standards and guidelines for designs for use at tourist attractions and enterprises to reflect Ghanaian culture, the collection, analysis, compilation and publication of tourism information and statistics, as well as the marketing and promotion of Ghana as a preferred tourism destination.

Maame Efua comes to the position with a rich repertoire of industry experience spanning hospitality management, travel and tour operations, event planning and management, and real estate development.

She is also a passionate advocate for women in leadership, actively mentoring young professionals and championing diversity within the industry. Her strategic expertise, community impact and unwavering commitment to progress make her well-positioned to lead efforts to leverage tourism as a key pillar of Ghana’s socio-economic transformation in the years ahead.

HMCA 2026 is expected to attract participants from numerous African countries, providing a unique platform for knowledge exchange, investment opportunities and strategic conversations that will shape the future of hospitality and tourism on the continent.
