As the international day for the celebration of World Tourism Day is fast approaching, the Honourable Commissioner for Tourism Development in Bayelsa State, Hon. John Alla has inaugurated the Planning Committee for 2024 World Tourism Day.
In his speech at the brief inauguration ceremony, Hon. Alla stated that the noble members of the committee are selected in a bid to organize and ensure the success of the forthcoming 2024 World Tourism Day celebration in the state.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Ministry of Tourism Development on 13th September , 2024.
The Commissioner stated further that it is paramount for the state to join the world in celebrating World Tourism Day with a focus on strategizing and organizing a world-class event that will showcase the tourism potentials of Bayelsa State.
The appointed World Tourism Day Committee Members composed of notable professionals, experts in tourism and event management are tasked with delivering a seamless and impactful event.
The members of the planning committee are Hon. John Alla, Hon Commissioner for Tourism; Paye Boye Festus Lukoh, Acting Permanent Secretary; Deedee Ebinimi Edsintei; Zuowei Dickson; Tom T. Inko-Tariah; Helen Frank-Oputu and Blessing Ezeonyitimba.
Hon. John Alla charged the members of the newly inaugurated committee to emphasize the importance of delivering a well-executed event that will attract global attention to the state.
He outlined the key expectations at the event while he also gave a clear mandate for a successful and resourceful World Tourism Day 2024 celebration.
World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on September 27th to foster awareness of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political, and economic value.
The celebrations aim to address global challenges outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and to highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals.
