The member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Engr. Remi Oseni has officially declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, pledging a new era of “quality and result-oriented” representation for the district.

Addressing a massive assembly of All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful in Ibadan, Oseni characterized his senatorial ambition as a commitment to elevate the standard of governance in the district.

He maintained that his entry into the race is fueled by a desire to bring tangible development to the nine local governments that make up Oyo South, asserting that his track record in the Green Chamber serves as a blueprint for what he intends to achieve in the Senate.

The declaration comes at a pivotal moment for the Oyo APC, as the incumbent Senator for Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, recently formally unveiled his own ambition to contest the 2027 governorship election.

In a powerful show of party solidarity, Senator Alli was present at the event, where Oseni expressed deep appreciation for his leadership and that of other party pillars, including the former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, and Ambassador Florence Ajimobi.

Oseni, a seasoned structural engineer and Chairman of Step Development Limited, noted that his tenure in the House of Representatives has been defined by a “silent operator” approach that prioritizes infrastructure over rhetoric.

He highlighted his successful execution of road projects, school renovations, and the construction of bridges and street lights across Ido and Ibarapa, promising to scale these efforts across the entire senatorial zone.

“I am here to tell you that I have served, and I am ready to serve again with even greater responsibility,” Oseni told the cheering crowd.

“My mission is to represent you to bring hope and the quality representation you deserve. We have already empowered 40 youths to become millionaires to stimulate our local economy, and we have consistently supported our market women and artisans. This is the level of impact we will bring to the Red Chamber”, Oseni said.

The lawmaker, who described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his mentor and source of strength, urged the party to remain united as the 2027 polls approach. He warned against internal divisions and prayed for the scattering of any “ungodly gathering” working against the party’s success.

He assured the constituents that with his professional expertise and political experience, the difference in governance would be “clear and undeniable.”

With the formal entry of Engr. Remi Oseni into the race, the contest for the Oyo South ticket has emerged as a focal point of the APC’s strategy to reclaim total leadership in the Pacesetter State.
