The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has said that Pilgrimage is a spiritual journey, not a jamboree.

He made this assertion on 15th September 2025 while bidding farewell to the departing intending Christian Pilgrims to Israel and Jordan for the NCPC delayed Easter Pilgrimage exercise at the Pilgrims Terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In the words of the NCPC boss, “What you are going for is a spiritual journey, not a jamboree.”

He admonished the intending Christian Pilgrims to avoid embarking on shopping sprees and should concentrate on the real purpose of the journey, which is premised on spirituality.

He further advised them to be of good behavior and conduct themselves in a most orderly manner while in the Holy Land.

Bishop Adegbite also urged the intending Christian Pilgrims to be cautious with what they eat while in the Holy Land, stating that they should eat with decorum and etiquette.

He emphasized that the Pilgrimage journey should be a period of new experience. He assured them that they would see the manifestations of God’s glory in their life and would come back with outstanding testimonies.

He affirmed that President Bola Tinubu is not a religious bigot because he has been most supportive to both Christian and Muslim Pilgrimages. Bishop Adegbite urged them to uphold President Bola Tinubu in prayer so that the Good Lord would continue to renew his strength and enable him to finish well in the service of the nation.

He equally enjoined them to also uphold Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in prayer as she turns 65 years on earth on 21st September 2025.

Bishop Adegbite further averred that as many that would want to go to Israel would be assisted by the Commission.

About 350 intending Christian Pilgrims departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja last night for the Kingdom of Jordan, en route Israel, made up of FCT Christian Pilgrims, Edo, Taraba, Benue, and Consulars.
