Hon. Samson Opeyemi Fatola, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency in the 2027 election, has donated office materials to the party secretariat in Molete, Ibadan, describing the gesture as his contribution towards building a stronger and more functional party structure.
The donation was made on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in the presence of party leaders, executives, candidates and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Fatola said his decision to support the secretariat was driven by his belief that the responsibility of strengthening a political party should not be left to a few individuals.
According to him, every stakeholder has a role to play in ensuring that the party has the structure, resources and environment required to effectively serve its members and engage with the people.
He said the provision of the office materials was a modest but deliberate contribution towards the collective growth of the PDP.
“Party building is not the responsibility of one person. Every one of us has a role to play, and I believe in contributing my own quota to the advancement of our party,” Fatola said.
On the 2027 election, the PDP candidate said he was fully prepared for the campaign and election season, adding that mobilisation was already gathering momentum and that all hands were on deck.
He noted that his recent campaign launch and manifesto presentation were part of his broader engagement with the people of Ibadan Northwest/Southwest, stressing the importance of taking his message directly to the electorate.
Fatola, an entrepreneur and employer of labour with business interests across several sectors in Nigeria and the United States, said his experience in the private sector had reinforced his understanding of responsibility, organisation and the importance of building structures capable of delivering results.
Akinoso: “Fatola Is One of the People I Can Vouch For”
Reacting to the gesture, the PDP Chairman, Hon. Abdrahman Akinoso, expressed his appreciation for Fatola’s contribution and said he was proud to be associated with the candidate.
Akinoso described Fatola as one of the “shining lights” of the party and among the individuals whose commitment to the party he could vouch for.
He said the donation demonstrated that party members and candidates could contribute meaningfully to the development of the organisation beyond campaign activities.
The chairman also called on voters in the Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency to participate actively in the electoral process and urged party members to work collectively as the 2027 election approaches.
The event brought together major stakeholders of the PDP, including the party chairman and other members of the executive committee, party leaders, candidates and other party members.
The donation comes as political activities and mobilisation intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
