The National President of the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), Chief Abiodun Odusanwo, has extended his warm congratulations to hospitality leader Olugbenga Omotayo Sunday on the resounding success of the 8th edition of the Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA), which concluded recently in Lagos

In a statement issued to newsmen at the Abuja Headquarters of ITPN, Chief Odusanwo praised the Omotayo Sunday for his unwavering commitment to advancing Africa’s hospitality industry.
The two-day conference, held from July 11 to 12 at the Lagos Continental Hotel, brought together over 2,000 delegates from 13 African countries, including Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda.
“Mr. Sunday’s vision and dedication are truly commendable. The HMCA has evolved from a local gathering into a premier continental platform that is actively reshaping the future of African hospitality by bridging the gap between indigenous brands and international standards,” Chief Odusanwo stated.
The Hotel Managers Conference Africa (HMCA) is founded and convened by Olugbenga Omotayo Sunday. It is one of the largest gatherings of hospitality professionals, investors, and stakeholders on the continent.
The most recent edition took place in July 2026 at the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Under the theme, Raising the Bar: Sales, Service and Standards for a Competitive Africa, the conference featured keynote sessions, panel discussions, masterclasses, product exhibitions and also facilitated critical conversations on policy support, workforce capacity, and the role of technology in hospitality.
Chief Odusanwo, who leads the ITPN as Nigeria’s premier Awarding body and the professional membership organization for Nigeria’s travel tourism and hospitality sector, emphasized that HMCA’s objectives align with the Institute’s mission to professionalize the industry.
He noted that events like HMCA are instrumental in equipping practitioners with the skills needed for global competitiveness.
“The ITPN is proud to associate with this initiative, which not only exposes managers to global best practices but also fosters the cross-border collaboration essential for the growth of our continent’s tourism ecosystem,” he added.
Chief Odusanwo concluded by expressing confidence that the outcomes of the HMCA 2026 would lead to tangible improvements in service delivery and operational standards across the industry.
