Hon. Aderemi Oseni, Member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the devastating fuel tanker accident in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a statement, Oseni, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), described the incident as “painful and deeply disturbing.”
He also prayed for the swift recovery of those injured, saying, “My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragic and avoidable incident.”
The accident, which occurred at the Fruits Market along the Oje–Beere route, claimed six lives, including a motorcyclist, and left several others injured.
Oseni attributed the crash to brake failure and called for stricter compliance with road safety measures, especially for heavy-duty vehicles transporting flammable substances.
“We must take collective responsibility to safeguard lives and prevent future tragedies,” he said, urging regulatory agencies and transport operators to prioritize routine vehicle maintenance and strict adherence to safety standards.
He concluded by expressing solidarity with the bereaved families and praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
